Kenneth Mahlangu was on Nov 78 in Winterveldt BOPHUTHATSWANA and attended his primary school in Rethusitswe ( 1987), which is where the karate issue started.

When I was in Std 2, my schoolmate was bullying me after school by the time my father was a Karate Instructors Sensei Piet Maluleka known as Sensei Sentence and a bus driver who was driving us to school instead of helping me as my father , then late he came home with new Karate Suit ,with white belt and the Karate Suit was written Bophuthatswana Kyokushinkai Karate Association with the round badge (Kanku) and other badge in heart ( Kanji ) and he said to me “”Son that’s the way of life to protect yourself “” and he took me to NDABA HALL KARATE DOJO IN WINTERVELDT under Sensei Dan Seoka.

In 1989, we attended a 3 days of Gasshuku n grading at ODI STADIUM , which is whereby I obtained my first belt in Karate (blue belt 8th Kyu). That was 1st and last grading that my father paid for me, and he said to me that Karate is not all about a belt but a knowledge.

Then 1989 I moved to another location called Marivate in Winterveldt then I join THE MIKATSUKI DOJO under Sensei William Matjeke who was affiliated to SAKKA under Shihan Benny Kekaka , sensei Matjeke is the one who played an important role in my historical background of karate he graded me from blue – green belt between 1990 -n 1994 . During that time, I met many local instructors who were known locally and attended more development tournaments, and obtained positions 2 & 3

1995, I joined IKO 1, which was led by Shihan Isaac Mashinini in Winterveldt Phillipos Hall and training under the leadership of Sensei Clement Baloyi. 1996, I graded my Brown Belt under the supervision of Shihan Mashinini .

1997 October 04, is the year than I was recognized after attending the SAKKA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT HOSTED BY SHIHAN BENNY KEKANA , the technical skills and fighting style impressed tournaments supporters including the officials and is whereby I gain the nickname of Midori , n said I was fighting like Kenji Midori the former champ of 1992 WORLD TOURNAMENT.

I obtained 1st position in my category weighing 65 kg because I was not known they tried to squeeze things and transfer me TO OPEN DIVISION to fight again for position.

As the nickname was already given as MIDORI, I managed to fight with +75kg and obtained position 1 again in that open division even though. It was very difficult for me due to favoritism, and I was the Champ of SAKKA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT. 06 December 1997 graded for my 1st Dan

1998 March 07 ,attended the North West Young Lions Selection tournament, and I obtained position 2
04 April Young Lion National TOURNAMENT I obtained 07 position.

At the end of 1998, I joined IKO MATSUSHIMA under the leadership of SHIHAN ALPHIUES SABELA as a former member in North West

1999 I grade 2nd DAN BLACK BELT, and the grading panel was Shihan Peter Thage , Sensei Noah Bembe( Now Shihan )Sensei Micheal Ngwazi ( Now Shihan ) Sensei Linda Buthelezi ( Now Shihan ) .

2002 IKO MATSUSHIMA INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT hosted in Durban i obtained position 3 open division .

2007 I graded my Sandan under IKO MATSUSHIMA

In 2014, after Iko MATSUSHIMA international tournament. Kenny Mahlangu, formed his 1st organization INDEPENDENT KARATE ORGANIZATION in collaboration with Donshinkai under Tshepo Maaga and we called our organization IKO DONSHIKAI then the organization had an un-ceremonial divorce and the new baby was born in 2015 INDEPENDENT KYOKUSHINKAI KARATE ORGANISATION ( IKKO) is affiliated to World Sabaki Federation under the auspice of Kaicho Hoosain Narker
